How DBT Skills Training Is Beneficial
Skills training is beneficial in teaching teens the necessary tools to build a life worth living. Many teens struggle with reactivity to intense emotions, impulsivity, low motivation, low self-worth, difficulty making friends and maintaining relationships, poor problem solving skills, ineffective communication, feelings of anxiousness and more.
Through skills training, teens develop better self understanding and awareness, increased impulse control and decision making skills, improved emotion regulation skills, and the ability to manage distress in effective ways without resorting to old escape behaviors.
Outpatient Therapy costs are as follows:
$275 Initial assessment interview.
$225 Individual therapy sessions per session.
$250 Family therapy sessions per session.
Teens frequently attend one individual therapy session per week. Increased individual sessions are available if it is recommended by the therapist. Family involvement is critical to the success of every adolescent and family sessions are available.
The Parent's Role
Parents who are living with emotionally sensitive, highly reactive teens engaging in high risk behavior can at times feel like they are at the end of their rope. In spite of this, most parents know that their role in their child's recovery is critical. Skills training for the entire family can bring about a common language and provide the structure needed to get a family back on track. Regular communication with your treatment team and participation in the treatment will bring about the quickest and most lasting results.
